Preservation is raised to art form–literally–when you visit the University of Alaska Museum of the North. While there are many dramatic exhibits to take in and absorb, the biggest attraction here is a meticulous presentation of a 36,000-year-old mummy. Other equally captivating exhibits include those that highlight Alaska's five major geographic regions that include artifacts, important objects and other items of interest from each region. In addition to research-based projects, the museum offers a wide variety of educational programs.
Strike up a great time with friends and family when you play a few frames at Arctic Bowl. This well-regarded bowling venue is where Fairbanks goes to bowl, and it has also proven to be an excellent place for family fun and recreation, too. In addition to the many lanes and state-of-the-art scoring, there is a big arcade that the kids will love as well as a concession stand with a generous selection of tasty treats.
Want to show the kids some of Alaska’s most visually appealing plants and flowers? There's no need to drive all over as you can discover the beauty and majesty of the indigenous greenery when you take the whole family to the Georgeson Botanical Garden. This is a nationally recognized botanical and research garden attraction. You will be amazed at the incredible display of natural beauty that features 300 annual flowers, vegetables and herbs as well as over 1,000 perennials. The garden's unique design allows visitors to ask questions and learn while also enjoying the relaxing environment that these plants and flowers naturally create.
