History and nature intertwine at Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park. The park is of particular interest to history buffs as it was where the Confederate Army replenished its iron supply during the Civil War. The attraction is also significant because of the attack of the Confederate forces on March 31, 1865 that destroyed the workers' cabins when they were all set on fire. Today, the park is a drastically calmer place that offers hiking trails, horseback riding, picnic areas, and various camping sites that feature log cabins.

While getting to the Bama Flea Mall and Antique Center may be a bit of a drive (it is in Leeds, Alabama), it is most definitely worth the extra effort! There are over 400 dealers who offer their wares in a shopping area that stretches out over 57,000-square-feet. The market is open seven days a week and vendors are constantly bringing in old and new items on a daily basis. Find everything from guns, knives, collectibles, jewelry, sporting items, antiques and lots more.

Every city has a Cheers-style bar, and in Birmingham, it's Lou's Pub & Package Store. This local favorite finds people from all walks of life gathering around the bar and enjoying a few beverages while talking about their day. Patio seating is available, and in addition to featuring an impressively stocked bar, Lou's is also famous for its fine homemade cigars.
