There are plenty of activities planned over the course of this event that includes special presentations for kids, who are treated to free mineral samples in an effort to educate and familiarize them with these visually appealing natural resources. The festival features over 80 vendors who are on hand selling minerals, fossils and gems as well as educational information. This free event is usually held in the early part of the year and is sponsored by the Arizona Mineral and Mining Museum Foundation.
