Pima County Sports Hall of Fame's mission is to properly document and preserve the contributions of the talented athletes who have had a positive impact on sports in Pima County. Established in April of 1989, this museum honors the exceptional moments in sports and of individuals who participated in Pima County high schools, community college, university or professional athletics. Athletes who have contributed in other areas like coaching, officiating as a referee, or worked to promote various events in the area are also spotlighted in the Hall of Fame. A unique look at the role of sports in this community will fascinate any fan.
The Starr Pass Country Club and Spa is semi-private and offers golf to both members and the general public. The spectacular setting proves to be a dramatic backdrop for an equally dramatic course. It features three sets of nines that include the Rattler, the Roadrunner and the Coyote that are full of challenges for every skill level. From the daunting tee to pin stretch of over 7,000 yards on one hole to a more manageable 5,213 yards for a less adventurous player, these fairways, bunkers and greens all offer something special to any and every golf lover, no matter how accomplished.
Grab your bike helmet and make sure that your wheels have enough air in them because the Perimeter Cycling El Tour de Tucson is gearing up for another run. The event attracts over 9,000 cyclists of every skill level and has been nationally recognized as one of the top three fundraising rides in the country as well as one of the premier organized rides in the U.S. The proceeds help benefit the University Medical Center in Tucson. Previously held the Saturday before Thanksgiving, but due to COVID-19 the 2020 event has been postponed until Apirl 10, 2021. Check their website for further updates.
