Musical Theatre West is Southern California's premier musical theater company. It certainly has an impressive history, as it began as the Whittier Civic Light Opera in 1952. Since then, it has taken great pride in presenting some of the best musicals and theatrical productions in the area by featuring some of the most exceptional performers from all over the country. Some of the most popular shows that have graced the stage here include A Chorus Line, Oklahoma, 42nd Street, and Sunset Boulevard, among many other favorites.

Even though Belmont Shore tried to break away and establish itself as a city in its own right, it is still technically a part of Long Beach, California. No matter, really, because fans of this impressive district know that in addition to excellent shopping, dining and entertainment, there are plenty of great family fun attractions to enjoy here, too. There's free fishing off the Belmont Memorial Pier, beach volleyball, a dog beach, a jet ski ramp, a paved path for biking and skating, Belmont Pool and lots of other great amenities that make spending a day here fun for the whole family.

Make an escape without having to go too far from home when you plan a visit to the Palos Verdes Portuguese Bend Trail. You will be immediately struck by the amazing views of the Pacific Ocean that you can enjoy as you make your way along this very well-maintained trail along the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The trail is popular with walkers, hikers, bikers and horseback riders. This is most definitely a great way to enjoy the outdoors and the area's natural beauty from a completely different perspective.

Every August, the sounds of America's music – jazz – fills the Long Beach air. Fans of this historic musical genre gather at Rainbow Lagoon Park to hear some of the top artists on the scene performing during the Long Beach Jazz Festival. This popular three day event is staged on a beautiful grassy knoll in the park that makes for an experience that is as visually stunning as it is aurally pleasing. The festival also features a great selection of food, arts and crafts, as well as the wares of various vendors.
