When you visit the Pacific Island Ethnic Art Museum, you will be astounded at the various works of art and exhibits that all go to tell the story of how the various cultures in this part of the world overlap. In fact, it is the mission of this exceptional facility to incorporate the diversity of the different cultures of the Pacific islands, with a special focus on Micronesia, to offer a compelling and panoramic view of what each of these groups contributes to the region's history and way of life.

Art is born out of both inspiration and reflection. A specific geographic area can inspire the creation of some truly amazing art as well as reflect the attitudes and feelings of a particular point in time. Nowhere is that more obvious than at Long Beach's Museum of Latin American Art. These works seem to come alive with both a dimensionality and a spiciness that gives them a personality all their own. The facility was founded in 1996 and holds the distinction of being the only museum of its kind in the United States.

Hark back to a time when shopping on a street was a friendly, inviting experience when you visit 4th Street in Long Beach. This is a section of the city that stretches between Cherry and Junipero streets and is referred to as Retro Row. There are over 40 independent merchants who specialize in the unexpected. Among these cool and kitschy shops you will find vintage and contemporary clothing, furniture and accessories, art, antiques and collectibles, books and lots more. There are also several locally-owned restaurants, coffee shops and wine bars that add to the charm of this very unique part of Long Beach.
