Putting on a show is not only an art, but in a sense, a science, too. It takes both talented performers and technical pros to pull off an excellent stage production. The International City Theatre has been doing just that in Long Beach since it began back in 1985. This award-winning, professional group is a non-profit entity that consistently delivers an appealing schedule of dramatic, comedic and musical entertainment throughout the year.

There is a keen sense of adventure that you will feel the minute you step into the Long Beach Antique Mall. This is an impressive group of merchants and vendors who specialize in all things vintage. The selection of furniture, jewelry, clothing and accessories, glassware, pottery and other types of art is truly staggering. There's something to appeal to every interest, including books, magazines, juke boxes, vintage audio equipment, and every type of collectable you can think of!

Sailing is a popular sport in Long Beach, and the Congressional Cup sailing event is held in Long Beach every April. The event which began in 1964 has grown into one of the world's most recognized sailing events. The one-on-one race is similar to the America's Cup competition, so it is not surprising that the winners of the Congressional race go on to win the America’s Cup as well.

As long as there are stars in the California night sky, the Griffith Observatory throws a star party every night. The venue offers these free get-togethers with a little help from the Los Angeles Astronomical Society. Also with the facility is the Samuel Oschin Planetarium; this planetarium gets in on the fun by offering $7 tickets to three exciting shows that spotlight the wonders of the universe, of the sea, and of the ocean. The observatory is also the home of the new Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon presentation theater, so there is much to do here between the time you are peering heavenward.
