Explore 36 miles of trails through the open grasslands, cliffs and canyons of Topanga State Park. Located near the Santa Monica Mountains, this state park also provides a lovely view of the Pacific Ocean. Discover a number of geographical wonders, like earthquake faults, marine fossils and volcanic intrusions while taking in the sights at this outdoor destination.
Housed in the oldest surviving structure of LA's original Chinatown, the Chinese American Museum is part of the El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Monument. As such, the mission of the Chinese American Museum is to use art, cultural artifacts and historical facts to "foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of America's diverse heritage."
Visit the Pershing Square in downtown LA. This small, one block city attraction contains a large fountain, numerous artworks and a stage area. This park hosts special events, such as summer concerts, Friday Night Flicks, holiday-themed celebrations and displays of local artists and their work.
Enjoy some free jazz at the Central Avenue Jazz Festival held annually on Central Avenue, the home of LA jazz in the 1930s and 40s. Enjoy food, art, community outreach programs and, of course, some of the best music from favorite local and national jazz artists, as well as high school bands.
