The San Bernardino National Forest is like an unexpected natural haven in the midst of some intense urban activity. Most people are pleasantly surprised to find this natural gem of a forest located on the other side of the mountains in San Bernardino. Of course it's always safety first at this popular attraction, but fun is a close second as the park is open seven days a week. Kids who are under 13 skate in a supervised area, and all skaters, no matter their age, must wear helmets. There is a concession and sitting area where mom and dad can relax while the kids get their share of concrete surfing.

Fans of history know that it is somewhat of a rare occurrence to get a glimpse of what life was like centuries ago. Luckily, places like the Kimberly Crest House and Gardens make it possible to revisit history. This amazing structure was built in 1897 and was considered the “castle” because of its distinctive design. It stands as a fine example of lavish Victorian architecture. The home's namesake, Kimberly Crest, donated the property to the city of Redlands and it has been a vital historical link to the area's past ever since. The house is available for tours, but it is suggested that you call ahead to schedule a specific time.

The fun and down-home charm of a county fair is alive and well thanks to the San Bernardino County Fair that runs from late July to early August. This family-fun event features everything from prize pigs to excellent live music, games, and lots of other great activities.
