The San Joaquin County Historical Society & Museum is a fascinating, multidimensional time capsule of the area. Learn about the settlement history, local terrain, homesteads and the role of the Gold Rush in the social and economic development of the region. Additionally, see exhibits on wine making, tractors, gardening and a blacksmith shop as well as a generous selection of antiques and furnishings. Plus, there are various demonstrations of how all of these items were pivotal in the lives of the area’s early inhabitants.
The Willow Slough Trail offers hikers and walkers a chance to experience the natural beauty of an ancient valley oak forest that offers one of the rarest landscapes in the state. Beaver, river otters and mountain lions as well as several types of exotic birds are the types of creatures you may be able to see on your trek. The terrain of this recreation path is dirt, dirt road and boardwalk through the valley and oak woodland.
Striking out is a good thing when the whole family heads out to Pacific Avenue Bowl. This is one of Stockton's favorite places for great family fun. This bowling facility has been one of the city's most iconic attractions, as it has had its doors (and bowling lanes) open since 1958. Despite its impressive vintage, the venue offers state-of-the-art bowling, a great gaming area, snack bar and more that creates a highly comfortable environment that's safe, enjoyable and perfect for the whole family.
