To take a tour of the Historic Bob Hope Theatre is to travel back to experience one of Stockton's most iconic sites. Originally opened in 1930 as the Fox, the venue attracted quite a lot of attention (as well as patrons) for staging some of the most spectacular productions ever seen. The theater was also noted for its 2,170-seat capacity. The theater was renovated in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The three Wurlitzer pipe organs are still located in the loft, and one is used to regale audiences every second Friday of the month before a showing of a classic film. Tours of this incredible building are available by appointment.

With the arrival of June also comes the arrival of one of Northern California's premier county fairs, the San Joaquin County Fair. Everyone looks forward to this festival as it is five full days of fun, music, food and frivolity. A big-name concert is always the center point of the action, but the fair offers plenty of other great activities that include a carnival, a livestock show, plenty of fun and interactive exhibits.

The kids will surely jump at the chance to rev it up and go when you take them to visit the Delta Speedway. This attraction is located in San Joaquin County Fairgrounds and has been in operation since 1986. This track is an 1/8 mile dirt oval that accommodates microsprint cars that kids from 5 years of age and up can enjoy. The whole family will be entertained by the rumble of these smaller-than-usual engines as they speed toward the finish line.

Whether you're young in age or young at heart, a great day of family fun is in store when you visit the Pixie Woods Amusement Park. This is a truly classic experience, as this much-loved park has been a fixture of Stockton since it opened more than 55 years ago. Enjoy such attractions as a merry-go-round, the Pixie Express Train, and much more. The kids will also enjoy the slides and playgrounds, and the firetruck and pirate ship that are on site, too. Plus, the water play area is quite popular during the warmer months of the year.
