Every October, the people of Aurora let it fly with the annual Punkin Chunkin Colorado. The idea is to hurl pumpkins through the air as creatively as possible. It is quite amusing to see the various ingenious contraptions designed to launch pumpkins as high as possible. There's also lots more fun at this festival with hayrides, scarecrow making, a pumpkin patch and great live music.

The Denver Zoo has a pedigree almost as impressive as those of the animals it houses. Established in 1896, the facility is by far the city's most popular attraction as it welcomes over one million visitors every year. You'll find over 4,000 animals here that represent 700 species. See leopards, king cobras, black rhinos, coral reef fish, elephants, zebras, vampire bats, gorillas and much more. The kids will also enjoy the petting areas and highly informative special exhibits scattered throughout this highly entertaining venue.

The Aurora History Museum prides itself in being the largest single provider of arts and culture in the city of Aurora. There are several well-recognized programs that the museum offers that include performing arts, fine arts, history, and public art, as well as special events and festivals. In addition to housing some of the city's rarest and most prized treasures and artifacts, the venue offers regularly scheduled films, lectures and various presentations that are designed to deepen the public's knowledge and appreciation for Aurora and the figures that have contributed to its long and varied history.
