The Virginia Wine Expo is the oldest celebration of its kind on the East Coast and is regularly attended by wine aficionados from all over the country. Sixty of the state's top wineries are on hand to display their wares, but this celebration goes far beyond just tasting some of the best wines from the various participants. There are also seminars, cooking demonstrations, live entertainment, gourmet food and an outdoor art and craft show. The event is held every September.

Aside from the White House, the United States Capitol building is the most visited building in Washington. Tours are available at the kiosk on the southwest side of the Capitol, and are free of charge, on a first-come, first-served basis. Plan to get there early, as there are always plenty of people in line for this extremely popular attraction.

America's memorial to President Kennedy keeps an artistic tradition alive that would have put a smile on the face of the beloved fallen leader. There are 7 different theaters in the venue that are always featuring such works as ballet, dance, opera, symphonic presentations and so much more. There are enough places on the grounds for the two of you to sit and enjoy each other's company before or after whatever production you have decided to take in.
