Virginia Wine Festival

Virginia Wine Festival

The Virginia Wine Festival is the oldest celebration of its kind on the East Coast and is regularly attended by wine aficionados from all over the country. Sixty of the state's top wineries are on hand to display their wares, but this celebration goes far beyond just tasting some of the best wines from the various participants. There are also seminars, cooking demonstrations, live entertainment, gourmet food and an outdoor art and craft show. The event is held every September.

Old Soldiers' Home Golf Course

Old Soldiers' Home Golf Course

The U.S. Soldiers Home Golf Course is a 9-hole facility that takes pride in offering a highly well-maintained golf experience. Opened in 1948, this course features average-sized fairways and greens, as well as a variety of scenic outlooks and medium-to-difficult shots on some holes. Overall, this course can be considered a "classic" and draws players of every skill level to its tees every day.

National Archives

The National Archives is the ultimate historical storage unit. Every significant document and tangible piece of history is cataloged and stored here. The site houses everything from the Declaration of Independence, to the Louisiana Purchase, to the Watergate tapes.
