To honor his passion and concern for the outdoors, the Theodore Roosevelt Island Park was established to not only recognize the efforts of this very public figure, but to also provide a natural setting that Teddy himself would have been proud of. The park itself is 91 acres of natural beauty that is accessible by footbridge from the parking lot, off the north-bound land of the George Washington Memorial.

The professional sports team is a member of the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League. "The Caps," as they are affectionately known, won the 1998 Stanley Cup Finals and have captured six division titles. The 2009-10 Capitals continued that tradition by taking home the franchise's first-ever President's Trophy for the team with the most points at the end of the regular season.

Our 16th President is remembered at one of the city's most popular attractions, the Lincoln Memorial. This iconic landmark overlooks the Reflecting Pool that creates a stunning photo opportunity as both the Washington Monument and the Capitol Building are in the vicinity as well.
