Things To Do in Washington, DC
Potomac River
The Potomac River offers several fine opportunities for water sports and great aquatic fun. Enjoy a day of sailing and get a look at DC from a truly amazing vantage point. There are several marinas on the Southwest Waterfront, Old Town Alexandria, and Arlington that are great starting points for your time on the water. Lessons are available at the Washington Sailing Marina which is located just south of the Reagan National Airport.
The National Building Museum
The National Building Museum presents several fascinating exhibits that cover architecture, construction and engineering. And while several of the country's most famous structures are spotlighted, the actual museum building itself is an exhibit in its own right. This amazing venue features massive columns, a picturesque fountain and a highly decorated ceiling that reaches 15 stories upward. Ford's Theatre
Ford's Theatre has a built-in drama all its own. This is where John Wilkes Booth shot President Abraham Lincoln, and that unsettling episode still resonates in the structure today. Take a tour that retraces the incident, and you can also get a look at some of the interesting backstage areas.
