Located in nearby Milledgeville, the lake attracts casual anglers as well as an impressive number of professional bass fisherman. Aside from offering a large population of bass, the body of water holds the distinction of being voted the cleanest lake in the state.

Douglass Theater Douglass Theater

Revisit the site of some of Macon's most classic performances when you step into the classic beauty of the Douglass Theater. This venue and attraction dates all the way back to the 1920s when it was an African-American movie and vaudeville hall. Later, in the 1960s, such iconic performers as Otis Redding and Ray Charles graced its impressively large stage. Amazingly, the theater is still in operation and takes great pride in maintaining its role in promoting the African-American experience in the areas of music, film and theater.

High Falls State Park Trails High Falls State Park Trails

High Falls State Park Trails consist of three trails of varying lengths and difficulty. These recreation trails actually provide access to the falls and the historic natural areas of this park. This loop trail is rated easy to moderate as it stretches out 2.3 miles with a gain of 140 feet in elevation. This particular trail is open all year round and offers hikers the chance to see everything from prime fishing spots, spring flowers, fall foliage and bird migrations.
