At Macon's Hay House, a significant and stunning piece of history still stands in a most spectacular way. This incredible 18,000-square-foot antebellum mansion was originally built in 1855 and amazingly survived the War between the States. Its Renaissance Revival style is completed by several notable details that include carved plaster adorned with 24-karat gold leaves and colorful stained glass windows. This hiking and biking trail also welcomes causal walkers and stretches out comfortably over the course of its .9-miles.

High Falls State Park Trails consist of three trails of varying lengths and difficulty. These recreation trails actually provide access to the falls and the historic natural areas of this park. This loop trail is rated easy to moderate as it stretches out 2.3 miles with a gain of 140 feet in elevation. This particular trail is open all year round and offers hikers the chance to see everything from prime fishing spots, spring flowers, fall foliage and bird migrations.
