Come aboard the Arabia Steamboat Museum to catch a glimpse of the Kansas and Missouri frontier life in the 1800s. A perfect time capsule, the Arabia sank into the Missouri River in 1856, taking all its treasures into the muddy waters. Excavated in 1988, the salvaged and restored artifacts are now on display for all to enjoy.

The Phoenix Jazz Club has thrived like its namesake since 1888. Located in the corner of downtown, the Phoenix was once a shady hotel, rumored to be more of a bordello and complete with a speakeasy saloon. Nowadays, this jazz club is known for its classy, relaxed nightlife atmosphere and is a great place to listen to the smooth tunes of a live band with friends.

When KC’s original symphony orchestra was dissolved in 1982, the philanthropist R. Crosby Kemper Jr. insisted on creating the Kansas City Symphony. Since its formation, this new symphony orchestra has served as a vital part of the music community.
