It's funny how cyclical everything is. About 30 years ago, music fans lamented the passing of the vinyl record album as it was pushed aside by the smaller, silvery compact disc. There are three locations in town that all feature a constantly changing inventory and will offer you an opportunity to trade your discs in to receive store credit to trade in or purchase something they have in stock. They also offer a great selection of games and movies, too.

Topeka's history is full of surprises. One of the most noteworthy is the fact that a native of the city, Charles Curtis, was the first Native American to serve as Vice President during the Herbert Hoover administration. Get a more detailed look at Curtis' life and work when you visit the Charles Curtis House Museum. The finely preserved details of the furnishings and personal items on display all go to help tell the story of Curtis' life as well as his significant contribution to American political history.

Topeka's Civic Theatre & Academy for the Performing Arts is both a source of inspiration as well as an arena to develop young talent. The entertainment venue features several programs that spotlight family-oriented activities and positive learning experiences. This popular outlet for artistic expression appeals to visitors of all ages and features a significant number of live events on its stage throughout the year.

The MacLennan Park Trails are located in northwest Topeka and offer some of the area's most stunning scenery as the recreation trail runs along the hills overlooking the Kansas River. There are two types of trails here–a limestone loop and a series of dirt single track hiking and biking trails. Access to the trails is available on the south side of the park on 6th Street, west of Fairlawn Road, as well as on the north side of the park on the west side of the Governor's Mansion.
