Seamless Guttering of Kansas

The Kansas Silent Film Festival is by no means a quiet affair. This yearly event celebrates the art and history of silent films from all over the world. Movie makers convene here to not only offer screenings of their latest works but to also participate in panel discussions about the technical and creative aspects of movie making. This free event is held every February.

Sexy and sleek are the two words that best describe Topeka’s JW's Bar and Lounge. By no means is it a place where you have to really dress up, but you will draw attention to yourself if you show up in a t-shirt and shorts. Elegant and classy but not stuffy, JW's offers a great selection at the bar, excellent service and great music that make hanging out here feel like you're in some Hollywood nightlife hangout.

The Ward-Meade Park in Topeka allows you to literally step back in time to experience what life was like during a time when settlers were making their way on the Oregon Trail. Luckily, some stayed in this part of the world, and you can take a self-guided tour of some of the fascinating places that used to inhabit the area. Marvel at the detail of a general store, a Southern-style mansion, botanical gardens and log cabins that all help create a true scenario of what Topeka looked like back in the early part of the 20th century.

The MacLennan Park Trails are located in northwest Topeka and offer some of the area's most stunning scenery as the recreation trail runs along the hills overlooking the Kansas River. There are two types of trails here–a limestone loop and a series of dirt single track hiking and biking trails. Access to the trails is available on the south side of the park on 6th Street, west of Fairlawn Road, as well as on the north side of the park on the west side of the Governor's Mansion.
