Wagonmasters Downtown Chili Cook-OffWagonmasters Downtown Chili Cook-Off

The Wagonmasters Downtown Chili Cook-Off is held every September, usually the last weekend of the month, and downtown Wichita is set ablaze by the spicy recipes from several veteran chili chefs. Understanding our world is always great fun for the kids, and a great place to learn and have fun at the same time is the Great Plains Nature Center. The center is a cooperative effort between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Kansas Department of Parks and Wildlife, and the City of Wichita Parks and Recreation Department. With that much support, the center proves to be a great place to interact and understand the state's wildlife through exhibits, attractions and tours.

Orpheum TheatreOrpheum Theatre

Instead of heading to the cold and impersonal metroplex to catch a new movie, add a touch of vintage class to your romantic evening with your sweetie by checking out a play, a movie or a concert at the Orpheum Theatre. It opened in 1922, and since then, the structure has not only brought entertainment to several generations of audiences, but the building itself has become somewhat of a star in its own right. The 1,300 seat venue is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is roundly considered to be a vital part of Wichita's cultural and architectural heritage.
