Undoubtedly the African American culture has had a rightful influence on American society, but to fully appreciate its origin and history, check out the Stephens African American Museum. Through paintings, relics and other items and art works, you'll get a sharply developed picture of the various African American contributions to our development and the importance of continued awareness of this fascinating component of America's story.

Artbreak takes place every April and May. Students from Bossier and Caddo Parish take part in several hands-on art projects and also serve as judges for the various pieces that are completed. This festival is a weekend of dance, music, theater, food, fun and even a 5K race.

If the angler in you is ready to leave the workweek behind and start relaxing by catching some fish, Barron's Landing and Marina is the perfect place to escape. It's your choice to either fish in the marina, where reeling in large bass is a frequent occurrence, or you can rent a Jon boat for only $40 and head out on your own. Either way, a great fishing excursion is only a few minutes away!

Whether you wish to walk along the shores of Cross Lake or take a boat out for a sail, the aquatic scenery and fresh air will help to create the perfect scenario for a romantic date. If you're out around sunset, don't forget to bring your camera, as the Shreveport twilights are unbelievably picturesque.
