Take to the trees at The Adventure Park at Sandy Spring Friends School for the largest aerial forest adventure in North America. Challenge yourself to a ropes course between the tree platforms, climb up to different levels and use zip lines as bridges. A visit to The Adventure Park makes for some extreme sports fun.
Get some fresh air as you take an outdoor nature walk through the Ladew Topiary Gardens. This 22-acre garden, built around a manor house from 1747, presents one of the most outstanding topiary gardens in the country. Walk though the extensively groomed and molded shrubbery and explore the 15 garden rooms, each dedicated to a single plant, color, or theme.
Listen to the lovely ladies of the Pride of Baltimore Chorus put on a performance of the highest possible level. This 110 member all-female, a cappella chorus has members from five different states, and serves as a chapter of the Sweet Adelines International, the world´s largest women´s singing organization. Catch an official performance, or stop by to watch (and possibly join in) a rehearsal!
During the first weekend of each May, spend four days watching top-notch film and video work from all over the world at the Maryland Film Festival. Hundreds of filmmakers attend the screenings of the approximately 50 feature films and 75 short films. Enjoy every type of film: narrative, documentary, animation, experimental, hybrid and others. You may possibly meet celebrity guests as well.
