The world’s largest institution dedicated to African American culture, the Charles H Wright Museum of African American History serves a dual purpose–it is both a museum of artifacts and an incubator of cultural retention and growth. View a permanent collection of over 30,000 artifacts and archived materials as you explore attractions throughout the seven exhibition areas and immerse yourself in the African American experience.

Art aficionados will not want to miss a trip to the Detroit Institute of Arts, one of the most significant art collections in the country. This gigantic museum covers 658,000 square feet and features over 100 galleries filled with everything from ancient Egyptian artifacts to today’s top contemporary works.

You will also find the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory in Belle Isle Park. This gorgeous greenhouse and botanical garden covers 13 acres. Built in 1904, this conservatory still overflows with beautiful plant life. Formal perennial gardens, annual flowerbeds, a rose garden and lily pond garden surround the domed conservatory, which is filled with exotic tropical and desert plants.

Come to Comerica Park to see the Detroit Tigers play ball. Part of an All-American sports tradition, this Major League Baseball team has been in Detroit (in one incarnation or another) since 1894. Wear navy, white and orange to show your stripes and your support as you cheer on the Tigers towards victory.
