What better place to host the North American International Auto Show than Motor City? This annual international event was first held at Beller’s Beer Garden in 1907. Today, you can find car collectors and enthusiasts at the Cobo Center in early January, admiring some of the latest models and enjoying sneak previews from industry leaders.

Spend an evening at the “world’s oldest jazz club.” Baker’s Keyboard Lounge has acted as a nightlife hotspot ever since 1934. Hear local and major acts present the ever-so-smooth stylings of blues, bebop and, of course, jazz while you dine on the best traditional soul food available.

Roll on down the Detroit River with Diamond Jack’s River Tours. Stop by the dock on Thursday-Sunday at 1:00PM or 3:30PM for a two hour cruise in this busy international waterway. Choose between three riverboats and enjoy a lovely, sunny day on the water as your guide shares fun facts and points out popular landmarks and Detroit attractions.

You will also find the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory in Belle Isle Park. This gorgeous greenhouse and botanical garden covers 13 acres. Built in 1904, this conservatory still overflows with beautiful plant life. Formal perennial gardens, annual flowerbeds, a rose garden and lily pond garden surround the domed conservatory, which is filled with exotic tropical and desert plants.
