Make your way to Harriet Island during August to witness the greenest weekend in Saint Paul at the Irish Fair of Minnesota. Just like St. Patrick’s Day, this fair brings out the Irish in everyone. Come by for music, food, drink and workshops—all designed to share the Irish culture. The proceeds of this festival benefit the new (non-Irish) immigrant projects and other Irish cultural activities throughout the year.

Bring the kids out to a place where they can touch, climb, splash, crawl, push, pull and press everything in sight. The Minnesota Children’s Museum offers fun-filled, hands-on exhibitions and attractions that allow children to explore and learn about the world by playing. Children can learn about the natural world, other cultures, history and art at the different galleries.

You can let your wild ones run free at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory. Admission is free, although donations are suggested. See exhibits and attractions that house the big cats, the primates, the exotic birds, the hoofed creatures, the wild wolves and even polar bears. Head over to the Conservatory afterward to see, smell and possibly taste plants from all over the world.

Get your fill of sports action while watching the Minnesota Vikings raid the football field as they tackle their opponents and score touchdowns. Although the Vikings have one of the highest winning percentages in the NFL, they have never won a Super Bowl. Come show your support and cheer the Purple People Eaters on to the ultimate victory!
