See the way people have moved throughout American history at the Minnesota Transportation Museum. Dedicated to preserving local railroad, bus and streetcar history, you can experience in-depth, interactive exhibits that are fun for the whole family, including historic railway operating equipment like the vintage steam engines or the operating roundhouse turntable.
You can let your wild ones run free at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory. Admission is free, although donations are suggested. See exhibits and attractions that house the big cats, the primates, the exotic birds, the hoofed creatures, the wild wolves and even polar bears. Head over to the Conservatory afterward to see, smell and possibly taste plants from all over the world.
Make your way to Harriet Island during August to witness the greenest weekend in Saint Paul at the Irish Fair of Minnesota. Just like St. Patrick’s Day, this fair brings out the Irish in everyone. Come by for music, food, drink and workshops—all designed to share the Irish culture. The proceeds of this festival benefit the new (non-Irish) immigrant projects and other Irish cultural activities throughout the year.
