Located between the U.S. Capitol and the White House, Newseum offers a fresh take on the traditional museum experience. You and your date will be pleasantly surprised at how much fun you'll have absorbing the exhibits that are as informative as they are entertaining. Over the course of 14 galleries you'll see how the free press has been the cornerstone of democracy. Various mediums are the subjects of the many exhibits. They include radio, newspaper, photography, photojournalism, contemporary history and much more. There's plenty for the two of you to do and to talk about on your romantic date at Newseum.

Aside from the White House, the United States Capitol building is the most visited building in Washington. This incredible building with its regal dome and classic architecture symbolizes democracy to everyone who sees it. The view from the front steps is like nothing else, so make sure you have your camera with you. Tours are available at the kiosk on the southwest side of the Capitol, and are free of charge, on a first-come, first-served basis. Plan to get there early, as there are always plenty of people in line for this extremely popular attraction.

The National Book Festival attracts both writers and readers of some of the world's best-loved books. Several award-winning authors head to the National Mall for this event every September to be on hand for autograph signing and seminar appearances. The kids will love meeting some of the characters from some of their favorite books as they come to life here and are available for photos.

The Langston Golf Course offers several challenges for the golfer of every skill level. This facility features one regulation eighteen hole course and two nine hole courses. All of them boast wide fairways and impressively large greens. Located just 5 minutes from Capitol Hill, the scenery is nothing less than astounding on this well-maintained group of courses.
