The Carolina Renaissance Festival allows you to travel to a time when court jesters made everyone laugh instead of sitcoms, the crowd watched knights jousting against one another instead of football games, and it was actually acceptable to eat with your hands instead of using silverware. All of those activities are still possible, thanks to this festival that offers plenty to discover, like Old World arts and crafts, delicious turkey legs and plenty of fun and games. Paramount's Carowinds Water and Theme Park manages to pack an incredible variety of fun activities over its 105 acres that offer a little something for everyone. Their name combines "Carolina" and "winds" to perfectly describe a place that celebrates the history and culture of the Carolinas. It also offers plenty to do, as the water park features several waterslides for various age groups. In addition to the water park, there are also over 100 rides and attractions as well as a musical review in one of the park's theaters.

The Charlotte Museum of History is a fascinating collection of some of the city's most interesting and dramatic stories, many of which you won't find in your average history book. The various interactive exhibits that are dramatically presented in this meticulously prepared venue are sure to capture the imagination of every history buff. The museum is located on the property of the Hezekiah Alexander Homesite and its lush, inviting greenery adds a touch of North Carolina's natural beauty to one of Charlotte's most respected historical sites.
