Hark back to a time when steamboats ruled the country's waterways as the chief means of transportation. Those mighty vessels had to be constructed, and it was no easy task! Learn about the fascinating and sometimes complicated story of how steamboats were built when you take a tour of the Steamboat Warehouse. This State Historical Marker is located on the east bank of the Missouri River in Bismarck across the road from the water treatment plant and it stands to commemorate the Northern Pacific Railroad warehouse where the steamboats were originally constructed.
Bismarck's Boneshaker Coffee Company has just the thing to give you that all-too-important morning jolt! In addition to gourmet and flavored coffees that can be served hot, iced or blended, the shop also features delicious cafe lattes, cappuccinos, cafe mochas, espressos and much more. Plus, you can also get a delicious muffin or cookie to complement your beverage of choice.
Even though it began as a fur-trading outpost, the Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park now stands as a stunning haven for nature lovers and history buffs alike. Located in nearby Mandan, Fort Abraham Lincoln dates all the way back to the 18th century. One of the most stunning aspects of the fort is that it looks almost as it did back in 1876 around the time of Custer's last stand. There are also some carefully reconstructed sights that you won't want to miss like an On-a-Slant Indian Village that features earthen lodges to look like early settlements.
