Lucke's Saloon lives up to its name, as the venue has been around since the 1940s. Back in the 70s, the bar drew a fairly rough crowd, but over time it has attracted business professionals and people who just want a break from the usual bar scene and want to be comfortable in familiar surroundings. That is truly the case as some of the patrons have called Lucke's their favorite place for nearly twenty years. Every May, the Reno River Festival signals the beginning of summer, as it has come to be recognized as the first big event of the warmer months. Events that have become synonymous with the Reno River Festival include a whitewater kayaking competition, a 2.5-mile two person relay called Run Amuck, and the very popular Biggest Little Homebrew Challenge where festival goers are encouraged to enter their home-brewed beer in a hotly competitive showcase.
