The Nevada Historical Society is a museum that highlights some of Reno's key historical pieces like an architectural drawing of the State Building as well as other artifacts, documents and photographs that tell the story of how this part of the state was key to Nevada's economic and geographical development. Visiting the Nevada Historical Society is a nice break from the usual bustle, and you'll learn quite a bit about the ever-developing desert city that is Reno.

And while the menu items are a little pricey, the quality of the food and the fun atmosphere make it all worth it. The Bartley Ranch Regional Park Loop offers a unique hiking trail as it echoes Nevada's ranching heritage. Along the trail you'll find a replica of a one-room school house, as well as vintage farm equipment and exhibits that explain the function of these artifacts. It's a great suburban trail that comes alive thanks to these interesting pieces of the past that you'll see along the way.

Virginia Lake Park provides a great place to catch your breath and enjoy some of the simple pleasures of Reno's outdoor environment and natural beauty. Clear, easily accessible walking paths and picnic areas offer you a chance to either take the family out for a nice afternoon in the sun, or spend a little time by yourself and enjoy a brisk walk before heading back to the reality of your day.
