Every summer, thousands of hungry guests wait for the doors to open to the Taste of Buffalo. This annual event held in mid-July allows various vendors, restaurants, caterers and other food-related businesses to show off their wares in the forms of free samples, cooking demonstrations, and other types of exhibits. Over 50 restaurants, 7 wineries and many others gather for what is the largest two-day food festival in the United States. Last year's attendance topped a staggering 450,000 guests, so get your fork and napkin and get set for a delicious Taste of Buffalo.
There are plenty of hockey fans in Buffalo, and with good reason. They get behind their team, the Buffalo Sabres, as the team is consistently one of the top drawing cards during the NHL season that runs from September through April. The sports team plays its home games in the HBSC Arena in downtown Buffalo.
The Allegany State Park is the largest of New York's state parks as it contains an impressive 65,000 acres of public lands and offers a wide range of recreational activities throughout the year. You can enjoy a guided walk along the Bear Cave Trail, check out the stunning rock formations at the Allegany Plateau, go swimming and sunbathe on either of two beaches, and even go boating or fishing. Buffalo City Hall is not only the hub of the town's government but it also represents an example of classic architecture both inside and out. The charming Art Deco design of the building has been a fixture on Buffalo's skyline for decades, and the building's interior charm balances the classic and the modern. A popular attraction for visitors is the 28th floor observation deck that offers stunning views of the city and Lake Erie, as well.
