While exploring Staten Island, stop at the Alice Austen House for a unique museum experience. The Dutch Colonial style home, often referred to as Clear Comfort, was built between 1690 and 1750, and belonged to photographer Alice Austen until 1945. The home now houses a museum featuring work from Austen and other photographers. The Austen House also offers etiquette classes, art camps and small concerts.

The Park Avenue Armory was built in 1880 and served as the headquarters for the 7th New York Militia Regiment, or the Silk Stocking Regiment. Over a century later, the Armory is now an arts institution that features work that compliments the building and its period rooms; rooms include a reception room, veterans room, staff offices, and a library designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany. Arts featured at the Armory span the realms of live performances, installations and paintings.

In a city with as much history as New York City, there are bound to be some dark stories, ghastly wonders, and creepy mysteries to discover. If photography is your passion, the International Center of Photography is a must-see destination for you. The center is a photography museum, school and research center located in Manhattan. Since opening in 1974, ICP has presented over 500 exhibitions featuring the work of more that 3,000 photographers. The permanent collection is home to about 100,000 photographs that explore the history of photography. Types of photos include daguerrotypes to gelatin silver and digital chromogenic prints.
