For a New York City history lesson, skip the text book and head straight to the source at the LaGuardia and Wagner Archives. The archives were established in an effort to collect, preserve and make available primary information chronicling the social and political history of New York City. The archives serve researchers, journalists, students, exhibit planners and others. Some documents the LaGuardia and Wagner Archives has in its possession include papers of several mayors, the records of the New York City Council, the New York City Housing Authority, the piano maker Steinway & Sons and a Queens History Collection.

The New Jersey Nets is a professional basketball team that plays in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference in the NBA. The team has been to the NBA playoffs twice but lost both times, in 2002 to the Los Angeles Lakers and in 2003 to the San Antonio Spurs. The Nets currently play in the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey but are anticipating a relocation to Brooklyn, NYC once the new Barclays Center is complete.

Take a walk on the wild side as a family at the Bronx Zoo. Around 4,000 animals live here in what is considered to be the nation's largest metropolitan zoo. The 265-acre park is home to a variety of exhibits and attractions that house animals like lions, zebras, tigers, elephants, giraffes and many others.

Browse the extensive collection at the city's second-largest art museum, the Brooklyn Museum. The permanent collection is comprised of over one-and-a-half million objects, showcasing culturally diverse works from ancient Egyptian masterpieces to contemporary arts, 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th century paintings and sculptures. Patrick Kelly, Chuck Close, Denis Peterson, Takashi Murakami, Mat Benote, Jim Dine, Sylvia Sleigh and William Wegman are just a few artists that have work featured here.
