The New York City Center is a concert hall in Manhattan, one block south of Carnegie Hall. The 2,750-seat City Center is home to several dance companies including the Encores! series. The series features revivals of popular Broadway productions such as Chicago, Wonderful Town, The Apple Tree, Gypsy and Finian's Rainbow. Other performance companies at the center include Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Eifman Ballet of Saint Petersburg, the Martha Graham Dance Company and The New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players.

The New York Liberty is a franchise of the WNBA based out of New York City. Since making its debut in 1997, the Liberty has missed the playoffs only four times in 14 seasons. The team has won 3 conference championships and has competed in the WNBA Finals four times. Despite being one of the most successful teams in WNBA history, the New York Liberty has yet to clench the WNBA Championship. Hall of Famers include Teresa Weatherspoon and Rebecca Lobo.

The Edgar Allan Poe Cottage is located in the Bronx, NYC and is the former home of American writer Edgar Allan Poe. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is part of Poe Park. Edgar Allan Poe is responsible for works like The Tell-Tale Heart and The Pit and the Pendulum. This museum details the history of firefighting and houses one of the nation's most important collections of fire-related art and artifacts. The museum is located in a renovated fire house that has been around since 1904. Painted leather buckets, helmets, parade hats and belts, lanterns and tools, pre-Civil War hand pumped fire engines, horse drawn vehicles and early motorized devices are a few items in the museum's collection.
