The Syracuse Crunch is part of the American Hockey League and is an affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks. The team plays their home games in the War Memorial at Oncenter. Syracuse's Landmark Theatre truly lives up to its name. This venue originally opened its doors in 1928 and stands as New York's last remaining Depression-era cinema that is still in operation. The theater became popular for its double bill of a movie and a live show. Facing problems in 1977, the foundering venue was rescued by investors who got it listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Community Folk Art Gallery is unique for many reasons. While it strives to present the work of African-American artists as well as other under represented ethnic groups in Central New York, it also features a striking common thread among the pieces that are on display. That theme is one of constant struggle against seemingly insurmountable odds that was no doubt the inspiration for many of the art works that are collected here.
