Step back in time at the Hower House, a 28-room Victorian Mansion built in 1871 by John Henry Hower. This Akron Industrialist’s mansion remained well preserved and eventually was declared a National Historic Landmark. Take a public or private tour to see the collection of Victorian-era treasures and furnishings that have been collected over the decades.

You can even participate in several arts activities and events hosted in the two adjacent classrooms throughout the year.
Stretching beside the Ohio & Erie Canal, the Towpath Trail winds and climbs through four distinct areas: Akron, Barberton, PPG Industries and Clinton. Use the open 21.5-mile recreation pathway to walk, jog, run, hike or bike while taking in the gorgeous sights. Fishing and camping are also allowed along the trail, as well as cross-country skiing during the snowy months.
