Akron is well known for its famous All-American Soap Box Derby, the most popular youth soapbox car racing program in the world. This amateur car race draws in hundreds of young competitors to the Derby Downs every year. Since 1993, the Ballet Theatre of Ohio has brought their performances to the Akron Civic Theatre each season.
