If you are looking for a truly exhilarating hiking experience, choose the Oak Openings Hiking Trail. This is highly regarded as one of the best long hikes in the Toledo area. As its name obviously states, the recreation trail stretches out for seventeen miles and offers a spectacular selection of wildlife and foliage to enjoy on your trek.

Even though its name may suggest something low key and quiet, Frankie's Inner City Lounge is anything but sedate. This is one of Toledo's premier nightlife venues for new and alternative rock and features a powerful combination of live bands and DJs every night of the week. The mood changes from night to night depending on what band or musical theme is on the menu, ranging from guitar bands on Tuesdays, open mic night on Wednesdays and industrial and Gothic music on Fridays. A cool, happening and loud place, Frankie's is not for the fainthearted.

This is one of the area's most endearing shops, and in addition to seeing some amazing locally produced art, there is also an equally inviting selection of mementos and gifts that are highly appealing in both their style and presentation. Among the many great finds here include jewelry, stained glass, paintings and photographs. There are even garden accents, mirrors and mosaics available, too.

History is both preserved and highlighted at the Fort Meigs State Memorial. This fort was the largest walled fortification in the country. The structure was ordered to be built by President William Henry Harrison on the south side of the Maumee River in 1812. This was the site of two important battles of the War of 1812. The historic attraction has been restored and was even the site of a massive archeological excavation that was started in the 1960s. There are self-guided tours available as well as various demonstrations that offer an even more detailed look at a fascinating piece of United States history.
