No. 9 Oklahoma seeks reset, better defense vs. TCU
10/16/2018 3:43am

In this July 26, 2017 photo University of Oklahomas Ruffin McNeill, the assistant head coach and defensive tackles coach, speaks to the media before a golf event at Jimmy Austin Golf Course in Norman, Okla. Oklahoma fired defensive coordinator Mike Stoops on Monday, Oct. 8, 2018 after the Sooners struggled to stop Texas during their first loss of the season.McNeill will be the defensive coordinator for the rest of the season. Very fired up because some people, one week theyll think youre the best team in America, and then you lose a game and they think youre the worst, offensive lineman Bobby Evans said. The defense will be under the microscope after making Ruffin McNeill interim defensive coordinator .The Sooners have been adjusting to McNeill, who had been defensive tackles coach for the Sooners since Riley hired him last year. From the first day he stepped on campus, he was just that guy the players were attracted to because hes a great players coach. This past week, this bye week was definitely one of our most competitive weeks of practice of the year, since camp, quarterback Kyler Murray said. I think we got a lot of good work in, good-on-good work in.Moving forward, weve just got to continue to practice hard, continue to get better and at the end of the day well end up where we want to be. Steven Adams has the best approach to following NBA roster moves
10/16/2018 2:46am

Steven Adams didnt care that he was voted as the NBAs toughest player by general managers, and given everything we know about Steven Adams, its not surprising that he doesnt follow the drama of the NBA offseason. The Thunder dealt with uncertainty over Paul Georges future with the team all season. It was almost assumed that he would sign with the Lakers, but Russell Westbrook and the Thunder won George over last season to the point that he committed to the Thunder on the first day of free agency. The star quote easily came from the Thunder big man.Simply put, there is no beating Steven Adams approach to NBA free agency. He said via SI: I dont keep up with that s, mate.Im f terrible.I just show up and whoevers on the team, cool. Amazing also, not surprising.I just want to know who broke the news to Adams that Kevin Durant left for the Warriors when he rolled up to training camp in 2016.That was probably a shock.
