Breathing in Eugene's fresh clean air is always more refreshing when you do it at Alton Baker Park. This incredible park stretches out over 402 acres to make it the city's largest riverfront park. And it doesn't matter what season it is, as the park hosts various festivals, running and walking races and community events throughout the year. There's also an off-leash dog park, the Cuthbert Theatre, Pre's Trail and other attractions on the grounds, as well.

Your need for good exercise is important, but then again, it is equally vital for your pet. Head to the Candlelight Park Off-Leash where you both can get in some enjoyable outdoor exercise. This park is specifically designated as an off-leash area, so your dog can enjoy the freedom and fun of running free without leaving the view of your watchful eye. The park is conveniently located off of Royal Avenue at Candlelight.

The Ridgeline Trail Loop begins at the base of Spencer Butte and follows the Ridgeline Trail across Fox Hollow Road, forms a loop, and then ends back at Spencer Butte Park. This recreation trail is mainly used for running but also accommodates hikers, mountain bikers and leashed dogs. The elevation is at 250 feet and the trail stretches for a total of 7 miles.

Hark back to the the Victorian era when you plan a visit to the Shelton McMurphey Johnson House. The structure is the area's only Victorian House Museum and offers visitors a chance to see what life was like back in an age when being prim and proper was the social norm. See artifacts, exhibits and attractions that offer an even more detailed look at the various aspects of Victorian life. The facility is also available for private events, group tours and weddings.
