From Africa to Asian, the Amazon and beyond, explore the attractions at the Oregon Zoo. The animals here are housed in a variety of exhibits that replicate their natural habitat. On your journey through the zoo, you'll see animals like lions, zebras, rhinos, tigers, elephants, bears, and even dinosaurs. That's right, the Oregon Zoo is home to animatronic dinosaurs that bring the prehistoric creatures back to life.
Take the time to stop by and see one of the city's most significant pieces of public art, Portlandia. Located at the Michael Graves' Portland Building entrance, the statue is a reincarnation of the city seal, designed as a woman holding a trident and welcoming visitors to the building. The statue is the second largest copper repousse in the nation, surpassed only by the Statue of Liberty.
Check out a concert at Portland's Wonder Ballroom. This entertainment venue brings live music to its stage several times a month. Metric, Tiger Army, Citizen Cope, The Wailers, Hot Hot Heat, and The Wallflowers are just a few bands who've performed here. After the show, head to the Under Wonder Lounge, the venue's basement cafe. The cafe serves up some good food and tasty cocktails.
Go for a ride on the Portland Aerial Tram and see the city from a whole new perspective. You'll see everything from above, from the South Waterfront district to the Oregon Health & Science University campus. The ride averages about three minutes long.
