Step into one of the city's oldest public places and visit Ankeny Plaza. Within the plaza, you'll find the Skidmore Fountain which has been hailed “as one of the finest fountains in American art,” and is the oldest piece of public art in the city. The plaza also has a number of preserved historic buildings, and Portland's popular Saturday Market event is held here as well.
The Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge is comprised of the wetlands on the east bank of the Willamette River. This preservation area stretches a little over 140 acres and provides several hiking and biking trails for those who want to explore nature and enjoy the great outdoors.
Get something sweet to eat with your sweetheart at Portland's Voodoo Doughnut. This unique doughnut shop offers a wide variety of doughnuts: The Loop, with Fruit Loops on top; Grape Ape, with grape dust and lavender sprinkles; Mango Tango, filled with mango jelly and topped with tang; and their famous Voodoo Doll doughnut that's shaped like the voodoo dolls of folklore. Grabbing a treat here is the perfect way to end a romantic date.
