Set aside some time to visit the oldest surviving botanical garden in the United States. Bartram’s Garden covers 46 acres in Fairmount Park, and is open to the public for free admission. Try taking a tour inside the historic garden area (the original 8-acre garden begun in 1728), the historic stone house, through the elaborate grove and the largest variety of North American plants in the world.

Lace up your skates or rollerblades and head towards the Palace Roller Skating & Fun Center. This roller skating rink is fun for people of all ages and all skill levels. Public skating and skating classes are available most days of the week, although the facility does allow private rentals as well for birthday parties and group functions.

Children who are fond of all that crawls, wiggles and flies will have a blast at The Insectarium. Filled with thousands of mounted bugs as well as live specimen, this all-bug museum is the largest of its kind in the country. Come see what all the buzz is about as you tour the interactive exhibits and attractions. Bug-a-phobes (entomophobes), should keep clear!

Raise a glass to Tippler’s Tour. This adult only tour is held at 5:30PM on Thursdays from April until December during which participants can enjoy a selection of local brews as they learn about the city’s history. This Historic Pub Crawl creates a setting of 1777 and teaches guests about the tribulations of being a British soldier in Philadelphia, the taverns of the day and a few other fun tidbits. Cheers!
