For over 35 years, the African American Museum in Philadelphia has been honoring the history, art and culture of African Americans. This museum is particularly notable as the first of its kind to be funded and built by a municipality. Formerly known as the Arch Street Opera House, the Trocadero Theatre has a rich history. Built in 1870, this entertainment venue has hosted musical comedies, vaudeville and burlesque shows, as well as an art house cinema and fine arts. Currently, this theater serves as a concert hall and dance club with a variety of popular national bands performing and recording at this venue.
