This national historic landmark has been a vital part of American astronomical research since 1859. Nowadays, the Allegheny Observatory is open to free public tours from April until the end of October.

Bring the entire family out to the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens and immerse yourself in a wonderful world of botanical attractions. Stroll through an authentic Japanese Garden, an amazing Aquatic Garden and the Discovery Garden, designed with kids in mind. Or, head inside the conservatory for exotic plants from around the world.

Paddle out onto the water at one of Kayak Pittsburgh’s three convenient locations: downtown, Lake Elizabeth and North Park. Admire the architecture or try to spot urban wildlife Downtown; bring the whole family out to the shallow Lake Elizabeth, or test the water as the newly opened North Park.
