If you love history, art or science, you will definitely want to visit the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh. The Carnegie Institute operates the Carnegie Museums, and two of the four facilities can be found alongside the headquarters. Visit the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Museum of Natural History in the same complex, or travel a bit to see the Carnegie Science Center and the Andy Warhol Museum.
Get wild at Idlewild Park and Soak Zone, one of the oldest amusement parks in the country. Take a ride on a "Classic Coaster," travel to the top of the Ferris wheel or test your nerves on the Tilt-A-Whirl. Once you have sampled the traditional amusement park rides, head over to the Soak Zone to cool down with some water recreation during the summer months.
Catch a show at the Rex Theater. What kind of show? That depends on what kind of entertainment you are in the mood for. See everything from a typical concert to an outrageous cabaret and peepshow. Live music options include local, regional and a few national bands playing anything from smooth jazz to rock ‘n roll—and the fully stocked bar keeps the nightlife going as well.
