Have your breath taken away as you travel up the Duquesne Incline. Once the main mode of transportation for Pittsburghers to get up the incredibly steep hills, nowadays the historic funicular takes guests up to the top of Mt. Washington for the best view of downtown. Children will get a kick out of the authentic car, the old photographs and artifacts in the upper station, and the ride up and down the mountain.

You may have to drive a bit to get to the Big Butler Fair, but the trip is worth it. One of the largest and best festivals in Western Pennsylvania, Big Butler is a chance to enjoy fireworks, the midway, games, demolition derbies, concerts and truck pulls that are not typically seen in Pittsburgh.

See the city in one of Pittsburgh’s most elegant modes of transportation. Molly’s Trolleys are charmingly designed after the ones that filled the city in the 1920s. Rent a trolley for a customized group tour, a daylong excursion or special events, like weddings and reunions. Or, join a special public tour like the ‘Burgh Brewery Tour.

Schenley Park borders the University of Pittsburgh and the Carnegie Mellon University campuses, and is filled with people taking advantage of the park’s 450 acres of trails, woods and attractions—from an ice rink in the winter to outdoor movies in the summer.
